Want to Participate in a Group Write?

Good morning fellow bloggers and followers!  Since today’s word prompt is the word, team, I thought that it would be neat if we created a piece of writing together.  Why not shake things up a little bit on a Monday morning, right?  Let’s see what interesting ideas we can share in together.  We might even generate a laugh or two for all of us involved when the piece is said and done.  Lord knows that we could use that!

I remember doing group writes in school, wherein one person would write a line or two to begin a story (usually fiction, but it doesn’t have to be today) and then another would add on to it and so on and so forth.  It was always neat to see what take each individual would have on the previous lines and where it was that they would decide to take the story.  By the end, we had always created something interesting.

I will start us off in a minute here and then each of you can add a line or two in the comments section of my blogpost.  Be sure to read the comments before you add yours so that you can have a sense of what has already been written.  It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, and as I said, I’m going to try to write something generic enough, but true so that our ‘story’ can be taken in a fiction or non-fiction route.   Throughout the day, I will do my best to check in regularly so that I can approve any new comments and keep the write flowing.  I apologize in advance if your comment is awaiting approval and someone else whom I already follow sneaks in there with their comment first, since my followers’ comments do not have to go through the approval process.  It could throw our story off a bit, but let’s roll with it.  This is meant to be fun anyway.  If it doesn’t end up going in the order that was intended, it might come out even better–‘glass half-full’–and if it falls apart at the seams, maybe it’ll be all the more laughable.  I know that I’m up for it!

Feel free to stop by more than once to add in a new comment (story line), if you wish or to simply see what our group has created thus far.  There are no limits as to how many times you can add to it, but let’s try to hear from as many folks as possible, email followers included, and let’s keep it clean and upbeat’ish; after all, it is a Monday and it would be nice to start out our week on a positive note.

Cheers to teamwork.  Ready to get started fellow writers?  Of course you are!  I can feel the excitement from here.  And remember, this will only work if you actually add your thoughts into the comments section.  Sue alone does not a team make!

Okay, here’s my story starter:

The sun peeked out through the clouds as she got out of bed.  It was going to be an interesting day!

  1. s.s.

Nursing the blue, slightly chipped coffee cup, she breathed in the just awoken world, pensive as she planned her day’s impending 12 hour journey, deep into the wild wild west. She’d made this commute (that’s what she called it now) a hundred million times, but there was something ominous about today. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

  2. How had they found her? Wiping her eyes, she ran to the bedroom and calmed the baby.

‘It’s all right, sweetie, you’ll soon be with mummy. But first, I have to deal with the guy on my doorstep.’

She picked up her gun and padded down the hallway towards the front door.
