Is it Worth Jeopardizing? Why, Yes it is!

You know the feeling:  Sweaty palms, a lump in your throat, that uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach, knees which feel weak, a racing heart & mind.  Indeed, it is decision time–will you or won’t you?  The answer you provide could change everything or it could change nothing, but how will you know if you don’t try.  Instead of asking, “Why would I?”, ask yourself, “Why wouldn’t I?”.   Chances are that flipping that question around will provide some clarity.

Depending on your interpretation of the word Jeopardize, it could be a good thing or it could be a bad thing.  Of course, in the dictionary, its meaning generally denotes ‘danger’, but it also lists the word ‘risk’ which is a bit more nebulous.  Risk-taking is a necessary part of life.  You won’t get very far without it.  Nor, will you get to experience a whole lot.  And, here’s the thing:  If you make a decision or a change, and you don’t like it, you can go ahead and make a different choice.  Yes, you can choose again.  Not always easy to do so, and I get that, but you can.  Many times in life we get hung up on the notion that once we have made a decision, we are stuck with it.  Says who?  At the end of the day, there is always a choice.  When you realize that, it relieves a lot of unnecessary stress and worry that seems synonymous with the decision-making process.

So, take a chance, even if it’s a calculated one.  (Please note that I am not endorsing endangering your life or the lives of others, when I say that…pretty sure you already know that, but you know what they say about making assumptions, right?!  So, just thought I ought to clarify that one:-). Your life was meant for living, not for standing at the sidelines wishing for better times or circumstances, so that you can fully participate.  Who knows what you will discover or uncover around the next corner?  Only you will.  And, at the very least, you will likely build some resilience and other similar life skills with those decisions that do not work out in your favour.  Some of the most powerful lessons learned herein.  Can’t argue with that logic, can you?  Besides which, you will have learned one more thing that does NOT work for you leading you moreso in the direction of that which will.

Very nice write up. I especially enjoy the quote regarding we only regret the chances we don’t take. How very true.
