Dear Blogging Friends and Followers…

Me…The Highway Blogger

Dear Fellow Bloggers, Friends & Family,

I cannot begin to thank you enough for visiting my blog.  Sincerely.  The absolute joy which I have gained in writing, reading, commenting and sharing with each of you is truly indescribable.  It…this… what I am doing right now…has breathed a new life into me that I could not even have imagined!  (So much so, that I even sought out cell coverage at the side of the highway during our last camping trip, as per my picture above, just to keep up with my blog:-).  And, the joy in all of this is really thanks to YOU!  In YOU, I have found a whole new community of ‘friends’–some old, some new–all welcomed and then some. Captivating Sunset

Warm, cool colours

Shifting, fiery, sinking

Down on the horizon it fades

Would Love to Live Life Full-Time as #TheObviousTourist

(sack is hidden:-)

When I travel, I undoubtedly look like a Tourist no matter how hard I try not to.  Of course, there are times and places when making it clear that you are a tourist is helpful, but in some circumstances, it’s not really what you want to advertise.  It’s undoubtedly my goofy hat along with my iPhone in hand for picture-taking, while donning my sack o’ plenty (purse) that I always have with me which are dead giveaways that I am simply a visitor, but it is what it is.  What can I say?!  I am a fair-skinned gal who needs water, lotion, Benadryl, handwipes and ‘everything else, but the kitchen sink’ that will fit in there.  You know, just in case.  I am sure that some of you can relate to the need to feel prepared. Plus, I have to house my husband’s things, as he refuses to tote a bag fearing that he’ll be teased for having a ‘murse’ (aka man’s purse).  Though a ‘murse’ is common in Europe and many other places, it seems not to be a popular item for men here in Western Canada.   Read More…

No Boundaries On a Wintry Day

A snowy Fence on a wintry day.  Brings back chilly, yet somewhat distant memories given the fact that summer is officially upon us.  A reminder to enjoy what is now and then.  The frost defined trees, the bare branches, the pink hues on the horizon and a wooden fence by which to frame it.  Boundaries only if you set them.  Fence, or no fence.  It’s up to you!

The Other Chair

Life is so much sweeter when someone fills ‘the other chair’, isn’t it?! Well, I think so, and this is coming from someone who happily enjoyed being single for almost a decade. Of course, it doesn’t have to be a spouse at all, as having a partner in life is not just defined by being single or being married. It’s about having someone in your corner who supports you, who cares about you, who believes in you, who listens to you, and who cheers you on and likely up, as you make your way in this journey. Through the years, I would say that many people have filled ‘the other chair’ for me and I would guess it to be similar for you, as well. Read More…

Summer is….Everything Delicious

What is there NOT to love about Summer?  As its solstice arrives upon us today, I know what I look forward to, but I would love to hear exactly what it means to you.  I will begin….feel free to add your thoughts in the comments section.  Meanwhile, I am sending warm, sunny wishes your way for a beautiful day!

Summer is…sunlight streaming through the windows at dawn’s early crack.  Summer is …the feeling of warmth on my pale face.  Summer is…patiently watching and awaiting for the ‘fruits’ of our vegetable garden.  Summer is…a lazy day spent however I like.  Summer is…the warm breeze that I feel around me.  Summer is…the taste of all things fresh, cold and quenching.  Summer is…camping with family and friends and enjoying each other’s company.  Summer is...watching sunsets whose colourful light adds dimension to all thing living and non-living.  Summer is…juicy slices of luscious pink watermelon for supper.  Summer is…the endless sounds of buzzing and chirping.  Summer is...when daytime and nighttime become a welcome blur of everlasting light.

Now, it’s your turn, if you so wish.

Summer is...
